Q2 2006 Highlights

The title of this entry makes me feel like I am making a report for my boss. Kulang nalang graphs and powerpoint presentation with matching animations.

So here's the highlight for each Fleet Girl:

Maan - I am currently juggling my work, MBA classes, gym sked, wedding preparations along side my usual gimmicks with different set of friends. Most of the time I wish I could just multiply myself so I can do everything all at the same time. Unfortunately, tao lang ako. Mukha lang Diyosa. For more info about me, you may visit my blog and/or my Multiply site.

Connie - she is still with Fleet but with an upgraded position as of last year. This year she decided to purchase a Ford Escape. Like me, she is already addicted to Multiply and she has her own Multiply site which she updates every now and then. Actually, the only thing we can think about is Multiply. It occupies our minds and thoughts. Move over Friendster! Here comes Multiply! So check out Connie Unleashed for more info about Connie (sino pa?).

Kartika - went back to San Francisco and is currently working as a telemarketer. She is very much enjoying her stay in SFO and having a taste of independence. She sometimes go out with my brother to check out the gay bars in town. Sometimes I doubt Kartika's sexuality. You wouldn't know, she could already be a lesbian! Before I forget, she also calls and goes out with Karen Venegas (who is also in SFO and is also an ex-Fleet girl) from time to time. New bestfriend? She and Michael are still together but with no specific date yet on when they are going to tie the knot. She also has her own Multiply site which you can go to by clicking this link.

Leny - is married to Alvin. Her new name is now Ma. Elena S. Locsin. Nice! She is now living in New York City with her man and enjoys her new job in Shisheido immensely. I cannot help but be envious with her life. It seems so perfect! Anyhow, she's planning to back to Manila to get married again to Alvin and do the whole wedding shebang such as the reception and the photo and video of the couple cutting the cake and intertwining their arms to drink the wine. Ulk!

So it seems like Connie and I are still in Shell, in the same 6th floor. We still get coffee at the 6/F pantry almost every morning and we go out for lunch. We added into our routine our gym work-outs and our coffee talks at Starbucks Macapagal wherein we cannot help but reminisce about the good old days of Fleet Card.

Leny and Kartika are in the same country but totally different states. They are a hundred miles away from each other. Para mo na ring sinabing makaibang bansa sila nakatira. But the four of us still get in touch with one another via the reliable Trillian and Yahoo Messenger.

So those are the highlights for the four us. Until the next quarter.

Updates on the Girls

It's been months since I've posted a new entry and I think it's about time that I did. A lot has happened already so let me give you an overview of what's new with the girls.

Maan - This is me. I got promoted and transferred to a different department. I am no longer a Customer Service Officer and my new designation is Credits & Business Analyst for the Convenience Retailing Team. I decided to discontinue my MBA and start next year so I can concentrate on my new job.

Kartika - is back from the US after staying there for 3-4 months. She had a great time in San Francisco with my brother and wish she could have stayed longer. But circumstances made her go back to Manila. She is now studying at Frank Provost and has since cut and colored my hair.

Leny - has resigned from Fleet and is currently in San Francisco. She got there a week before Kartika left for Manila. She is engaged and is already planning her wedding.

Connie - has been promoted but is still with Fleet. We are currently not talking to each other. Let's just say we had a "falling apart".

Jackie - is still with the Contracts & Procurement department and is also engaged and saving up for her future with Earl.

Deanna - is already a mother to a very cute baby boy. She is very happy with her life as a wife and mother and will not trade it for anything else in the world.

Well, that's it for now. More updates soon so do check in from time to time.

Memories... Of the Way We Were

I remember the time I borrowed Kartika's VCD of The Way We Were starring Barbara Streisand and Robert Redford. The only reason I wanted to watch this movie, which was shown during the 70s, was because it was the center of conversation in one of the episodes of Sex and the City. Carrie was comparing herself to Katie (Streisand) and Big to Hubble (Redford).

Unfortunately, I never liked it as much as Kartika did. But we still talked about the movie and about Katie and Hubble and we sing the movie's theme song most of the time. I never liked the movie but I love the song "The Way We Were". So I made it a point that this song will be part of the AVP we made for Kartika.

Memories
Like the corners of my mind
Misty watercolor memories
Of the way we were
Scattered pictures
Of the smiles we left behind
Smiles we gave to one another
For the way we were

Just to reminisce about the good, ol' days, let's look back at Kartika's boo-boos:

Ita-itahan instead of Ati-Atihan
Nacho Fest instead of Nacho Fast
I'm FOUND of dogs instead of I'm FOND of dogs

O bawal ang pikon!

Kartika, we will surely miss you. Ngayon pa nga lang miss ka na namin. Wala na magdadala ng food for lunch and salsa for chips. No one will put eyeshadow on us during gimmicks and special events. Nabawasan na ang isang tao na asar kay Hugo. Nabawasan na ang barok sa Fleet. Pero nabawasan din ng maganda. Naks! I will surely miss you and all the adventures we had together such as sneaking off and going to CANS, lunch outs, shopping, or just plain hanging out here in the office and talking non-stop about mean things about mean people. I will also never forget the time we fought because of my pink blouse. It was definitely mababaw but it was one of our petty fights that made our bond stronger. =)

Well, the good thing about your leaving Fleet is that we can go on vacation together! See you real soon, Karts!

New Layout

Got the layout from www.blogskins.com. I'm just having problems with how the entries are being posted.

Next step: I'll be adding the Fleet Girls so they can post on their own and I won't have the sole responsibility of updating our blog.

We Love Usher

We adore Usher. His songs. His body. His dance moves.

Never a day will pass by that not one of us will not play an Usher song (Yeah, Burn, Confessions Part 1 and 2).

I have to convince Connie that the girl Usher was fooling around with in Confessions is an ex-girlfriend and not just some bimbo he picked up in some bar.

Connie, Kartika and I have seen The Making of the Confessions Video.

Connie, Kartika and I watch the music video of Confessions at the office.

I again had to convince Connie that the 'mistress' in The Making of the Video is a Latina and the 'mistress' in the music video itself is black.

There was a time that Leng and I played Burn on Winamp for the whole day. Now I'm sick of that song.

We were willing and ready to spend for the Usher Concert and was quite disappointed when it didn't push through. But looking on the bright side, we'll have more time to learn almost all the hit songs of Usher.

If Usher were to invite us to his place, Connie and I will readily agree. As said by Kartika, "Once you go Black, you can never go back." I wonder, has Kartika gone black??? That, my friends, could forever be a mystery.

To wrap up this entry, I'll be posting the lyrics of Confessions Part 1 and 2.

Confessions Part 1 and 2
Usher

[Usher talking on phone]
Hello?
Yo I'm in the booth I'mma call you right back
Nah I just gotta put this one part down I'mma call you back
I'm at the studio man what--
Man quit playin' with me man
No for real don't play like that
Are you--are you serious?
How you know?
Put that on everything.
Damn
I'mma call u back
I'mma call u back...

[Intro]
Everytime I was in L.A. I was with my ex-girlfriend
Everytime you called I told you,
"Baby I'm workin." (No!)
I was out doin my dirt (Oh!)
Wasn't thinkin' 'bout you gettin' hurt
(I) was hand in hand in the Beverly Center like man
Not givin' a damn who sees me
So gone (I know)
So wrong (Just listen)
Thinkin' I got it and left you sittin' at home
Thinkin' about me
Bein' a good girl that you are
But you prolly believe you got a good man
I mean I would never do the things I'mma 'bout to tell you I've done
Brace yourself
It ain't good or easy
But it would be even worse if you heard this from somebody else (oh no)

[Usher speaking]
I know you hate me
I know I hurt you
But there's more
listen...

Watch this...

(Chorus)
These are my confessions
Just when I thought I said all I can say
My chick on the side said she got one on the way
These are my confessions
Man I'm thrown and I dont know what to do
I guess I gotta give you part two of my confessions
If I'm gonna tell it then I gotta tell it all
Damn near cried when I got that phone call
I'm so thrown and I don't know what to do
But to give you part 2 of my confessions

(Verse 1)
Now this gon' be the hardest thing I think I ever had to do
Got me talkin' to myself askin' how I'm gon' tell you
'bout that chick on part 1 I told ya'll I was creepin' with, creepin' with
Said she's 3 months pregnant and she's keepin' it
The first thing that came to mind was you
Second thing was how do I know if it's mine and is it true
Third thing was me wishin' that I never did what I did
How I ain't ready for no kid and bye bye to our relationship

(Chorus)
These are my confessions
Just when I thought I said all I can say
My chick on the side said she got one on the way
These are my confessions
Man I'm throwed and I don't know what to do
I guess I gotta give you part 2 of my confessions
If I'm gonna tell it then I gotta tell it all
Damn near cried when I got that phone call
I'm so throwed and I don't know what to do
But to give you part 2 of my confessions

(Verse 2)
Sittin here stuck on stupid, tryna figure out
When, what, and how I'mma let this come out of my mouth
Said it ain't gon' be easy
But I need to stop thinkin', contemplatin'
Be a man and get it over with (over with)
I'm ridin' in my whip
Racin' to her place
Talkin' to myself
Preparin' to tell her to her face
She open up the door and didn't want to come near me
I said one second baby please hear me

(Breakdown)
This by far is the hardest thing I think I've ever had to do
To tell you, the woman I love
That I'm having a baby by a woman that I barely even know
I hope you can accept the fact that I'm man enough to tell you this
And hopefully you'll give me another chance
This ain't about my career
This ain't about my life
It's about us
Please

(Chorus)
These are my confessions
Just when I thought I said all I can say
My chick on the side said she got one on the way
These are my confessions
Man I'm throwed and I don't know what to do
I guess I gotta keep part 2 of my confessions
If I'm gonna tell it then I gotta tell it all
Damn near cried when I got that phone call
I'm so throwed and I don't know what to do
But to give you part 2 of my confessions
